Dr. Dae S. Rheem is one of the leading board-certified physicians specializing in Gastroenterology whose main purpose is to lead the community into the knowledge of prevention of colorectal cancer. He remains active in the community by doing outreach on his published research of Vitamin D and its active, integral role in the prevention of colorectal cancer.
Dr. Rheem extends his expertise in hepatobiliary and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in the hospitals and esophageal, gastric and colorectal cancer to his certified outpatient clinic/ambulatory surgical center: Yonsei Medical Clinic/Grand GI & Endoscopy Center. Equipped with advanced endoscopic technology to visualize organ interiors, Dr. Rheem and his team of accomplished nurse practitioners are able to diagnose and treat a wide range of diseases and conditions by performing preventative and evaluative procedures on the organs of the gastrointestinal tract, including the esophagus, stomach duodenum, colon, and rectosigmoid.
With the prestigious Sam Yang Co. Scholarship Dr. Rheem was able to garner up his complete educational requirements. Dr. Rheem received his MD and residency training at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. There he was accredited with many awards including the Outstanding Student Award, Dongho Pathology Award, Dean’s Award, and graduated as the honorary Valedictorian of his graduating class. He continued on with his PhD course at Yonsei Graduate School which ultimately led him to become an Assistant Professor at Yonsei University before setting up his renowned Dr. Rheem’s Gastroenterology Clinic in Inchon, South Korea.
After his migration to the States in 2001, Dr. Rheem completed his Internship and Residency in 2006 at Charles R. Drew University and subsequently became an Assistant Professor at Charles R. Drew University. He concluded his Fellowship at Loma Linda University in 2009 and finished off strong, ranking in the top 3 percentile on the in service nationwide exam. Dr. Rheem’s previous experience as a fundamental physician includes Sierra Gastroenterology Group and Sutter North Medical Foundation.
Dr. Rheem vigorously diffuses the concern of preventative medicine and Vitamin D through his research, lectures, and broadcasts not only in Southern California, but also in South Korea. Amidst his book, “Swallow the Sun” and his educational outreach to the community, Dr. Rheem’s ultimate goal is to provide world’s best care.
